Taking Up Space, Caramel Apple Hot Toddy, & Virgo Journal Prompts
“I spent so much of my life protecting myself, not putting myself out there.” — Beth Galton
How willing are you to take up space? This often comes up in my work, women share that they don’t want to be “too much.” Maybe, they will leave off experience from their bios or want to take another certification before sharing their work.
I read my clients’ newsletter,
this week. It got me even more fired up! “Your willingness to take up space is what makes you qualified.” Let that sink in your willingness, maybe even repeat it out loud.Maybe it’s your willingness to publish your newsletter, wear that outfit, book the trip, apply for the job, share you win on social media, create the business, or do whatever you feel called to do. You get to decide how your creative being shows up in this moment.
I had a woman who is in her late 60’s share with me on a road trip that she, “wasted her life, raising her kids and being a wife.” She told me how jealous she was of my courage to create my own business, travel, and still be a mother and partner.
My response? I paused and shared about my podcast guest Beth Galton. At 72, she sold her apartment in NYC and fully funded her Kickstarter project for her photography book, The COVID Diary. Note: Taking up space doesn’t have an expiration date, you can start whenever you like.
Note: In the wobbly world we are living in, it’s not always easy or possible to take up space. I fully acknowledge this and the invitation remains, claim your presence in whatever way you can. Maybe, that starts by taking a deep breath and figuring out your next step.

What’s Nourishing My Creativity This Week:
Caramel Apple Hot Toddy Mocktail
This is a nourishing warm drink that you can sip on all fall and winter long, no apple orchard selfie required! This is a spin on the traditional hot toddy. I love squeezing a fresh lemon or orange into it. The caramel sauce is super simple. If you are short on time, skip the syrup and add 2–3 Tbsp. of apple cider, 1 Tbsp. of your favorite sweetener, and 1/16 tsp. cinnamon (smallest pinch). The sliced apple really makes this drink for me, it’s like apple pie without all the work! I also have a Mug Mindfulness Mediation in this post. I am re-recording my Cooking Meditation Album, I can’t wait for you to hear it! Mug Mindfulness Practice
