I first saw
on Instagram a few years ago. A graduate of IIN, chef, content creator, and New Jersey resident, I reached out to her to see if she would be interested in cooking for me and creating content. At the time, I was a recent IIN graduate myself, had just released a beauty and wellness book, and was starting a wellness brand called Evolution 18.I needed content for our Instagram and digital presence and jumped at the opportunity to hire Carla. We’ve probably worked together dozens of times, and I’ve been lucky enough to enjoy her cooking firsthand. She’s created recipes and even has an incredible digital recipe book. Many of her recipes incorporated Evolution 18, a brand that no longer exists since I launched Jones Road. However, the recipes are still totally transferable and delicious.
We haven't worked together since Evolution 18, but while doing a deep dive into Substack, trying to decide if I wanted to start one myself, I found hers. She was the first person I subscribed to—not just because of her incredible recipes and food, but because her content was focused on how to start and grow a Substack.
Chef Carla is also the mother of two beautiful kids, a certified health coach through IIN and The Nutritious Life Studio, and on top of that, a Master Reiki practitioner and meditation teacher. Multi-hyphenated and multitalented, I really wanted to share her and her incredible talents with you all. Meet my friend, Chef Carla Contreras. Here are her recipes and photos that inspire me and make marvelous delicious, healthy food.
Note to the chef: I’m fantasizing about a cottage cheese ice cream or pudding. And as always, a breakfast muffin!
I’m excited to announce that I am gifting enrollment, through my very own scholarship, into The Health Coach Training Program to one lucky winner! Â
I’ve always been obsessed with health and wellness because I knew that when I ate well, drank plenty of water and exercised regularly, I not only felt better – I looked better.  So, at the age of 59, just before I was about to go on tour to promote my 9th book, Beauty From the Inside Out, I decided to go back to school and become a certified health coach through IIN (Institute for Integrative Nutrition).  It was one of the smartest decisions I’ve ever made. Not only did the course give me practical knowledge on eating well and incorporating more strength training into my exercise routine, but the knowledge I gained through my IIN degree taught me to embrace my endless curiosity and to always be ready to learn new things
The Bobbi Brown IIN Scholarship is geared towards those who are interested in healing themselves, furthering their careers, and bettering the wellness of others.
